Space Camp Here We Come!!!

Soren and I are off on an adventure that I am not sure yet is crazy or exhilarating. We are driving with Lucy and Isobel (and momma Alex) to Phoenix, Arizona to attend Space Camp at the Challenger Space Center. Once in AZ we will be staying with Wendy who lives right around the corner from the space center. Alex, Wendy and I have been dear friends since we first meet in Kindergarten, so we are starting the cycle of friendship again with this next generation. It has been around 15 years since Alex and I have done this same road trip. This time around while we will be driving in more comfort (a fully decked out Toyota Tacoma with camper vs. an an antique Land Cruiser), it is the three sardined five year olds in the back seat that have us worried!

The Gator x 2

We recently spent an afternoon out at the home of Lucy and Isobel, twin girls that just turned five and whom each received John Deere Gator's for their birthdays. The boy's loved them, but it was Sevi who I couldn't tear away from the Gator at the end of the day. He is in his "me drive" phase, obsessed with anything that has a steering wheel. Luckily there is plenty of land for a two year old driver to navigate on out in Glencoe.

Family Self Portrait

This is what I get when I try to take a family picture. Lovely, eh?

Soccer

This spring Soren played soccer at Longfellow Park. After each class it appeared that he had fun, but his final summary for his soccer experience was that he likes T-ball better. When asked why he gave a very defined reason: "I just like to hit".  For a boy who is very hands on and has always been a "hitter", it makes sense.

Lemonade For Sale

Last week we spent a day selling our wares at a Garage Sale in Woodbury with the boys' best friend's Joey and Tommy. Soren and Joey had a lemonade stand and made a $32 profit off of 25 cent lemonade and cookies.  When the older boys got distracted the younger one's quickly moved in to take over and sample the treats. We aren't sure if more lemonade landed in cups or all over the driveway. Either way, all the boys had a marvelous time.

The Art of Lawn Mowing

It is officially lawn mower season and Sevi is obsessed with mimicking Randy when it is time to cut the grass. Soren on the other hand has his own obsession with doing observational drawings of all things related to the outdoors, including lawn mowers.

Fast and Furious

The favorite activity for the boys to do at the park is to ride the tire swing. They both love to go fast and spin hard, never tiring. Already they are setting the groundwork to be excellent companions for when they reach that height requirement and can ride the biggest and fastest roller coaster they can get their hands on.

Today's Musical Guest

Sevi had a special musical guest come to his MacPhail music class. Grandpa Bob, who had been the Principal Chair of the Cello with the Minnesota Orchestra, came to give a demo on the cello. Teacher Cheryl, who freely admits to having a crush on Bob, was beyond overjoyed. Her enthusiasm resonated through the class and Bob was a huge hit, playing pieces from Bach to Twinkle, Twinkle. Thank you Bob!!!
