Junior Lifeguard

Within a 5 mile bike ride from our home is Fort Snelling State Park which has a fresh water lake that is perfect for toddlers. The best part of the beach is the airplanes that fly right overhead as they take off from the airport - a toddler boys utopia. The lifeguards don't arrive until 11am, so Soren loves to climb the stands and watch all the airplane activity from his high perch. With over 10,000 lakes, this is by far one of the cities best kept secret beaches.

Truuuuuuuuuck

Soren was ecstatic last week to wake up to a cement mixer in his front yard, thanks to our new front steps. He really is such a boy, loving all things that have anything to do with trucks. The feet stomp in excitement, the finger points and the eyes gleam while a slow truuuuuuuck drawl escapes his lips.

Sum, Sum Summertime Fun

The Farmer in The Dell

This summer we joined a Community-supported agriculture (CSA) called Foxtail Farms. On Saturday they had their kids day and we traveled over to Osceola, WI to go visit the farm. Soren dove right into the farmer role: riding on the wagon behind the tractor, planting summer squash, eating green beans, picking potatoes and carrots, and feeding the cows. There really is no better way to teach a child how to connect with the earth and our food supply then to go visit a working farm.

Friday night Danceteria

Friday nights are Family Night at the Midtown Global Market. On the first Friday of every month is the fabulous group Common Chords. Kids go wild during their musical performances playing with scarves, drums, shakers, etc.

Visiting Grandma and Grandpa

Picking one of Soren's favorite vegetable, the cucumber, with Grandma L in her garden.

Grandpa Henry - the willing chauffeur, at least for now.....
