The End (But Really Just the Beginning) of 30 Days of Biking

Today marks the end of our quest to bike all 30 days for the month of April. The weather, for the most part, was on our side for the entire month. We all really enjoyed the month long challenge. The official tally and HUGE kuddos goes to Sevi for only missing ONE day!!!!! He is completely addicted to biking. He is also our little dare devil and will be a fantastic mountain biker. He loves to ride on the grass, over rocks, and even down stairs. Soren only missed TWO days and has also greatly improved his biking skills this past month. I also missed two days, though to be fair some of my "rides" were done on Soren's bike down the sidewalk or at the playground. Randy, our official year-round biker, missed three days - ouch!!!

Hidden Tick Surprise
Posted by
Randrea
There have been signs posted all week at Soren's preschool to remind the parents to be checking our children for ticks. Ashamedly most days I forgot to check. Today though when I brought Soren into a restaurant bathroom wouldn't you know it there one was, attached right to his penis! Considering I had to pry it off, Soren handled it pretty well. I guess you just never know where those little critters will land!

Pajama Party

Soren hosted his first pajama party with the opposite sex this past weekend. It was rather charming, as it is his best girlfriend Willa from his pre-school, and they had been planning it together for a whole week. It was a big success and all went exactly as they had planned; from what to eat for dinner, what activities to do, what movie to watch, where to sleep and what to have for breakfast. Today when Soren was picked up from school it was announced that the next Pajama Party is already in the works.

The annual egg dye..............
Luckily this year I was able to recycle the same egg scavenger hunt since Soren didn't seem to remember it from last year. Sevi loved finding eggs in the fridge while Soren tried to read each clue. Their "basket" was a large egg filled with Playmobile figures - a perfect fit for the boys.

30 Days of Biking

We have been in training for our family commitment to 30 days of biking that starts today, April 1.
"30 DAYS OF BIKING HAS ONE RULE ...
Bike somewhere every day for 30 days—around the block, 20 miles to work, whatever suits you. We advocate daily bicycling because we believe it enriches lives and preserves the Earth. A worldwide, thousands-strong community of joyful cyclists has been forming around that idea since April 2010—and will further amass in 2012."
The boys' big sister Liz inspired us to join her and the rest of the worldwide biking community for this annual April event. Sevi is a whiz on his little balance bike at just under 2.5 years of age. Soren is the old pro now on his own two wheelers. Look for us on our daily rides through the neighborhood and we hope to see you out there pedaling your own bikes.
