Cottage Opener

It has finally warmed up enough to start heading up to the lake. We made a short trip up last weekend with Grannie Annie providing some quality backseat reading and napping time.

We are all addicted to the local pies made from Mary Etta's Bakery. This year Soren had his first taste and didn't stop signing "more" until the piece of blueberry pie was almost gone.

Here is Soren learning to walk downhill on rough terrain.

Music Man

Next week our Musical Explorations class at The MacPhail Center for Music wraps up. Soren has loved this class and we come home each week with a new jingle to add to our musical collection. One part of the class has the kids bouncing on a big ball to the tune of Jelly in a Bowl. Over the course of the class it has been fun to watch the kids reach the walking milestone and go from crawling back to their parents after their turn to walking back. Each week new instruments are introduced and this week was the big gathering drum. It has been fun to have Soren represent the second Murrill generation at MacPhail, as my siblings and I grew up taking classes there 30+ years ago. Thanks Grannie Annie for supporting and continuing the tradition.

Let The Show Begin

This past weekend was the opening of my return to MN debut show at the Minnesota Center for Photography. I really have Randy to thank for alerting me to the call for entry. The work was originally funded by the Indiana Arts Commission and this show was funded by the Jerome Grant. I had mirrors installed on the back wall and Randy and I spent a night hanging the work. Saturday night was the opening and it was a wonderful turnout. Soren was a champ hanging out way past his bedtime, but he had a blast playing with the mirrors and installation. Thanks to everyone who came and who support not only the work but me as an artist.

May Day Weekend

It wouldn't be Spring if we didn't hit the annual Bryn Mawr Festival of Garage Sales the first weekend of May. On Saturday morning we eeked out one last ride in the backpack that Soren has outgrown in order to really cover some territory. Soren got the best deals with the "Farmer Say's See 'n Say" toy and the wooden rocker. Sunday we caught the tail end of the May Day Parade where the highlight was listening to all the different drum corps and sampling mini donuts.
